Iwao Washizu

鷲巣巌, Monster of Showa
138
A wealthy old man and one of the most powerful people in Japan thanks to shady dealings and consultations he performed in Japans postwar period. Now fearful of his encroaching death he uses his money to tempt people especially young men to bet their lives on the chance to win a large amount of money. They do this in the form of Washizu Mahjong in which translucent glass tiles replace most of the original tiles leading to a much more psychological game based around bluffing and manipulating your opponent. Washizu is in possession of a tremendous supply of luck something that along with his cunning resourceful and stubborn nature makes him a worthy opponent for Akagi who is sent in to defeat and bankrupt him in one final game of Washizu Mahjong.
