Please note This review is all subjective and my own personal opinion. You do not have to agree with it nor am I asking you to. I hope that this just helps you get an idea of what the anime I am talking about is like and form a basic and general consensus on it. The ratings I give anime and manga are mostly my personal overall enjoyment. This review will be relatively spoiler free as I avoid talking about the plot. Introduction 420https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/848123679714836530/878108972207464468/74.png Kara no Kyoukai Remix Gate of the Seventh Heaven is a recap of the first six Kara no Kyoukai movies with movies seven eight the epilogue and the ninth movies not included as they were made after this recap. Unlike the original order they were released this movie presents the previous iterations in their chronological format with the second movie being presented first then the fourth and so on. This review is going to be shorter than my previous ones solely because this is a recap movie so there is less to talk about. How this movie presents the previous Kara no Kyoukai movies is simple. The movies are compressed into a couple of minutes with significant scenes of the film featuring in Kara no Kyoukai Remix. These scenes are accompanied with dialogue from their movies and sometimes extra effects that are exclusive to the Remix are added in to better present the scenes. One thing that ufotable did really well here is accompany each film with their theme song by kalafina when being shown on the Remix. This really uplifted the viewing experience as the theme songs by kalafina were already fantastic but when coupled with the engrossing scenes and gripping action of the film it really draws you into the films once again. The scenes selected to be in the film were also chosen carefully with some of the most engrossing parts of the film being put in with nonstop action and engagement. An important thing to note about the Remix as I have stated earlier is that the movies are shown in their chronological format. For people who watched the movies in the release order this is a vastly different experience. For me when I watched it in this manner things made a lot more sense the second time around seeing the movies and everything flowed a bit better. That is not to say seeing the movies in their release order is the incorrect way but seeing the movies in this order after watching them all is a really nice experience. Usually in my reviews I split the review up into sections detailing the characters plot animation and music of the film. Since this is a recap movie targeted towards people who have seen Kara no Kyoukai before or at least have some idea on the series I will just briefly go through the sections. The characters are nice to see again as a fan of the series but due to the recap nature of the movie a lot of their content and development is obviously cut out. The plot is similar in that regard too large portions of it is omitted but you can still enjoy the most gripping parts of the plot in this Remix. Furthermore the animation is superb in this film as it pretty much just takes parts from the previous films and puts it together sometimes with some extra editing added in. As for the music this was one of the strongest points of the Remix for me. As I have stated earlier each movie recap is accompanied with their theme track by kalafina which really uplifts the viewing experience. In the synopsis of this movie entry found on AniList it states that there are some new scenes. Whilst this may be the case said new scenes are not anything outstanding and one could go without seeing them. When I was watching this I did not exactly notice many new scenes other than ones that had been further edited but it has been a little while since I have seen Kara no Kyoukai. 420https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/848123679714836530/878108975063789568/75.png Conclusion In conclusion this recap movie is not a must watch but is good for those who want to refresh their memory on the previous movies after some time has passed since they have seen them which was pretty much the case for me. This movie is best catered towards those who have seen the previous movies as this essentially spoils a large portion of what those movies contain. This is not the best way to experience the six previous Kara no Kyoukai movies those should be seen in their entirety. That said this is still a nice watch to refresh your memory of Kara no Kyoukai. Overall I enjoyed watching this recap movie and it encapsulated some of the great parts of the Kara no Kyoukai series.
