SPOILERS BEWARE This movie is the first in the series of what will essentially become a side movie franchise on top of the anime from what it looks like I say side movie since it isnt a direct sequel or prequel but I feel like the events of this movie will become relevant in upcoming sequels of the anime I want to say this movie takes place before class 1A get their provisional licences so a good time slot would be right before their provisional licence exam. This movie is also a direct sequel to a filler episode that we find in S3 where this movie was practically selfadvertised in the episode itself. This movie introduces two relevant characters David and Melissa Shield which I strongly believe will play a part in the anime later so its probably a good idea to watch this movie before moving onto S4. Since this is essentially a side movie and as of this moment doesnt really fit into the current events of the anime it almost feels like a filler but even if it is that then I dont mind more MHA makes me happy as Ive stated in another one of my reviews that new scenes with this cast of characters is just a treat. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952283052791463946/unknown.png Now I want to say that all of class 1A was on the island since for the most part they all got brief screen time but theres a chance one or two just werent shown half of the class plays a pretty major role in the movie while the other half is on standby simply enjoying their trip to the island. This movie focused on only half the class so its entirely possible that future movies will focus on other characters that didnt get as much screen time here. From the students it did focus on it gave a fairly decent amount of screen time showing off their quirks at their best. None of the characters besides Deku really got any development here but that is fine since with due time we may learn more about some of the students that I still practically know nothing about like Hagakure for instance. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952283595119136778/unknown.png The ending battle between All Might/Deku vs Wolfram was pretty awesome but its the final moments that are definitely the best Deku following All Mights moves in synchronised time and even keeping up was a very nice touch which was even stronger emphasised by Melissas reaction to this essentially the same as mine. Deku is already following in the footsteps of his teacher on his colossal journey of becoming the next symbol of peace and fulfilling his story of how he became the greatest hero ever. Need I add that You Say Run plays in the final moments of the battle as well and its S1 version too which just made this simply epic. Another note on this battle is the gauntlets that Deku received from Melissa break by the end of the fight which is actually pretty smart since with that event it means that this movie can be placed anywhere in the timeline of this series essentially since he received and broke them in the same movie there would be no discretion over whether this movie would line up at the beginning or end of S3 as both are now applicable since Deku wouldnt just suddenly have new equipment from somewhere. This is also another factor that shows that the movie isnt a direct sequel but I still feel like it will play a part in the main story at some point. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952284285874892820/unknown.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952284552758439946/unknown.png The movie is quite a decent length yet it was over as quickly as it began this tells me how much I really love this series even filler and side stories still feel so fantastic to me now I did mention that this movie didnt offer much story wise but then I forgot that this gave us a look at All Mights backstory to a degree that is pretty huge and now I know I fully believe that this movie will play a key part in this series sooner than later at the time of this movie it was nice learning about All Might and his past but Im sure somewhere down the line this movie will play a pretty pivotal moment in the anime. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/952285403610746980/unknown.png With that said Ive covered most of the key points which stood out to me the movie is nice to watch but it isnt groundbreaking nevertheless its more My Hero Academia and that I certainly welcome with open hands as I really adore this series now. Im very excited to see what the last two seasons will bring potentially more because of how much manga there is as the plot is only thickening with each episode now like Ive said previously this movie isnt a direct sequel but it still offers things that you should know so definitely still worth checking out.
