SPOILERS BEWARE For starters this TV remake of the Mugen Train arc was essentially created to build hype before the release of the Entertainment District arc and I can safely say it succeeded as I personally enjoyed this format over the movie as it allowed me to appreciate a part of the story at a time rather than the whole thing in one go. The first episode is the only additional content in this remake thats not covered in the movie as its purely anime only and not from the source manga. It shows Rengokus side of the story leading up to the point he boards the Mugen Train. The following six episodes are the same as the movie but in a TV format. Rengokus words Lets meet again one day and I promise to tell my father about you. bring me great pain knowing his fate by the end of this arc... I also wasnt expecting such powerful onion cutting ninjas to appear so early when Fuku and her granny were saved as that completely crippled me. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1126829286423273472/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/930497430812753970/unknown.png As mentioned the remainder of the episodes afterwards are a rebroadcast of the movie split into six episodes however I still had a blast rewatching them in this format as I was simply immersed and as I stated earlier I preferred this TV format over the movie. There was also new OST included in this remake which I noticed making the phenomenally choreographed battle scenes even grander with a masterclass of a soundtrack adding extra effect. As per ufotables standards the animation was flawless. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1126575606956568576/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/930499509849587802/unknown.png In the final battle Rengoku died a legend but not before fulfilling his duty as he protected every single passenger while sacrificing his life. If thats not a noble way to leave your mark then Im not sure what is. In the dying minutes of his life his mother appeared who was smiling proudly which simply melts my heart as he did indeed protect the weak as was his mothers wish. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1126604537944342528/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/930498357405823006/unknown.png In conclusion Im glad I watched the TV remake since I believe the flow of episodes work better than a movie. Watching an episode allowed me to appreciate a part of the story at a time rather than the whole thing in one go. The remake does also include an anime only episode which is fantastic in leading the story from Rengokus perspective. I may have actually enjoyed this more on this rewatch than I initially did on my first but that may be since Im in a mood craving Demon Slayer at present. This was a short review as I cover more of my thoughts for this arc in my movie review which is what I initially watched if youre interested in checking it out.
