Introduction The Promised Neverland is the anime that got me into the anime community which by itself means it was pretty good even for a person that isnt into anime. If you ask me though it was not only pretty good it was awesome. Its a horror and phsychological anime with a kinda basic theme which is told uniquely. An escape from a place where people are held hostage but with a lot of twists Story 19/20 The story revolves around some orphans that discover about a dark secret of the orphanage they live in. They have to escape the orphanage within a specific time period since if they dont they are gonna be the next ones to expirience and face the dark secret of the orphanage. The story progresses and shows us the complicated plans of the kids to get out of the orphanage putting the viewers into thoughts about wether they are gonna succeed or not. The story raises the suspens by making all the characters neutral the viewer cant understand who is a good person and who is the villain. Each time the kids are close to the perfect plan a new enemy in the place of an ally shows up making the viewers interest bigger and bigger. Whos behind all this? Whats outside the orphanage? Are the kids gonna make it in time? Not only the kids but also the viewer asks themselves this questions something that means the story does a great job at putting the viewer in the same place as the kids mentally. The plot twists are insane and as things come to light more questions get created and the ending answers them all but creates a new bigger question which in my opinion is what makes a story telling great. The timeline is understandable but not too simple adding more spice to the story. The writers wanted to pass to the viewers a scary vibe portrayed as something normal and they did a great job on that. Characters 18/20 The characters are mostly kids with a very high intelligence. This could easily make the story boring the kids are geniuses that can easily make up a plan to escape thats what the story could be although the amazing writing didnt fail to amaze me. The 3 main characters all have a different kind of intelligence Emma is an observant free spirit with a big will Ray has the mind of a detective and Norman is a strategic leader. Thats what makes each one of them interesting. They all have a different perspective and plan on their escape and the three of them try to combine their intelligent yet different minds to think of the best plan possible. The other kids in the orphanage are little since the 3 main characters are the older they are 12 yet when the main characters reveal to them the situation they are into the little kids all adjust themselves to the situation and try their best to help without losing their kid nature and brain which is a pleasant surprise to the viewer since this is something really hard to do without making the little kids either too not mature or too mature for their age. Also the writers do a great job at reminding us the main characters are just kids by making them do some mistakes here and there or think too fast. There are times though where the main characters think a little too smart and act too much like adults which is a tiny bit unrealistic but it didnt bother me at all. Sound 20/20 The soundtrack and voiceacting on this anime is hypnotising. The quiet yet mysterious and creepy lullabies being hummed the will in the characters voice everything makes the viewer shiver when it comes to the sound. It puts the viewer on the exact vibe of the anime making it easier to adjust to the anime. The opening is great aswell the singing is very well done and its exactly what the anime is trying to show to the viewers. I love how the soundtrack that is playing during the show matches what is happening especially when something bad is about to happen and Isabellas lullaby starts to play quietly. It reminds me the phrase the calm before the storm. Animation 10/10 The animation of this anime is flawless. The colors are soft and kinda cold making the viewer understand the vibe of the anime better. They did a great job on the running scenes and there were many. The gore that was included was also horrifying exactly what it was supposed to be. World Building 10/10 The world building is another thing about the anime that didnt fail to amaze me. It was simple yet beuatiful. The orphanage was creepy and gave a weird vibe since the start the huge yard was very pretty and i loved how it was design with many plants and trees all over but my favourite thing about the world building was indeed the small area in the railing. The mysterious corridor behind the railings had me weirded out since the start and it was the cherry at the top of the creepiness in the anime Enjoyment 19/20 This anime was indeed very enjoyable. I would recommend it to everyone that wants to watch something really good with a high suspense but if you dont like mystery it may not be for you but you should still give it a try. I really loved the vibe of this anime and there will for sure not be an anime like this ever again. So adding up 19+18+20+10+10+19=96
