SPOILERS BEWARE After watching the previous two seasons of Isekai Quartet I went into this movie without too many major expectations since I kind of expected more of the same from both prequels but in a movie format. What I actually ended up getting was a pretty damn good movie which was less so gags and funny humour and more so a larger plot going on throughout which serves this series way better in my opinion. Its not a secret that the main charm of this series are the characters themselves since it is a crossover after all. This movie was genuinely a pleasant surprise. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1059519488636231700/image.png The story isnt anything extraordinary but its far more coherent than the prequels had offered and that was honestly enough to make this an enjoyable experience. Naturally I expect people would watch this after having seen all the series beforehand so this was essentially a two hour movie with the cast from those series plus a few new characters that were introduced in this movie. Firstly Pantagruel who is a basically a chunibyo and has strong similarities to Megumin. Shes actually a golem of this world that has taken human form I suppose? Naturally since this movie has only three new characters introduced the focus would be primarily on them as Pantagruel was the key in order to seal the final golem in the climax of the movie. Shes definitely a welcome addition. The second would be Vera who is a spy that was tasked with performing reconnaissance on the empire in order to gather intel for her country. I havent seen Youjo Senki in a while but as far as I can remember I dont think she ever made an appearance in that series so this may have been the first time weve ever seen this character. If theres any villain of the movie then it would be her but I say that softly as she realizes her mistake in the climax and ends up befriending Pantagruel in the end once more. Lastly theres Alec who is actually a Re Zero character whos a legendary hero from the past thats been mentioned a few times but never by name I believe. Even though the characters may not be groundbreaking it was still entertaining to have them included as part of Isekai Quartet. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1059524914039771246/image.png Like I stated above this movie was unexpectedly good since I wasnt expecting anything memorable yet this delivered. The Isekai Quartet movie is definitely the best this series has offered as it took the charm of the prequels and added a decent story making it far more entertaining. Since this movie aired in mid 2022 its safe to assume its likely the latest event chronologically speaking in most of these characters lives. For instance its very noticeable this is after the events of S2 of Re Zero because of how clingy Beako is with Subaru. Overall if you enjoyed the first two seasons of Isekai Quartet then you should definitely watch this movie as its more of the same but better. I had an enjoyable two hours watching it and hopefully so will you.
