SPOILERS BEWARE The sequel season for Amagami is only half the length and offers two episodes per girl compared to four however it takes the foundations laid by the prequel and gives even more closure to some of the arcs based on the VN source. Generally speaking some arcs here were phenomenal some were much needed for specific characters and some were just alright providing further development to a girls arc. If I had to pick between the prequel and sequel then I slightly preferred the former mainly due to it being twice as long allowing for slower but more concise development. The sequel only has two episodes to impress however what this anime offers for some characters in this season was really good. Had I known beforehand that the sequel will add two more episodes per girl then its actually totally viable to watch all six episodes of a single character and then move on to the next one and that way you get the full experience from both seasons of the anime. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1090570073376305192/image.png The format of this review will follow the prequel where I will touch on each of the arcs individually since thats where each girl gets to shine brightest. Interestingly the sequel shows the arcs in reverse compared to the prequel starting with Tsukasa and ending with Haruka. Tsukasas arc in this sequel was one of those that felt fine to me. Her arc in S1 was pretty great and the two episodes here gave a little bit more insight into her relationship with Junichi but it wasnt anything grand. Junichi was rather weak in this arc as he fell for the bait of being called out to a potential confession from Tsukasas rival in the student council election and even nearly ended up kissing. When Tsukasa saw this and based on her real personality she had every right to be mad but she handled it like a total badass by giving him a firm kiss in that shed and reminding him how gullible he was. Tsukasas arc in the sequel focused on her student council president campaign and I didnt find it all that entertaining. Tsukasa herself is a very entertaining character on the other hand. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1090573497186652190/image.png Rihoko is the next arc and this was easily the most important and needed arc since in the prequel she was the only one that didnt get a proper romantic ending. These two episodes finally delivered as right at the end of the second episode both Junichi and Rihoko reciprocate their feelings for each other at last. We know Rihoko has been in love with Junichi for years and same goes for Junichi but he never realised it until now... The big question here lies whether it was worth it in the end? And my answer to that would be a probably as Rihoko whos such a precious character finally got her romantic conclusion that shes been chasing for years. Although this arc boosts her character by a lot since it provided closure the prequel offered just about as much focus on Rihokos love interest as it did on the legacy of the tea club. This sequel arc was much needed as it purely focused on Rihokos love interest and was the best episodes of her character in the anime. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1088158078228242492/image.png Ai is next who is still easily best girl of the anime. She was my favorite from the prequel and this sequel cemented her place even further. She has the perfect balance of being able to accept Junichis perverted side for the most part while still drawing a line on what is deemed appropriate and setting him straight when he goes too far. This arc offered a side of Ai I hadnt seen which made her even more adorable. When she wasnt able to spend Xmas with Junichi she was overcome by an incredibly strong feeling of loneliness and its a weak side of her we didnt really see before. Even when offered to spend the night with her close friends it still didnt make the loneliness fade away which shows how much she truly missed him. Her wish came true as Junichi was able to sneak out from his cram school in order to meet Ai and when she run into him her face lit up as bright as the sun. I never did mention Junichis best friend before but he deserves credit in this arc as his best buddy was a true homie when he misled the cram school teachers. We later saw a potential for a Umehara x Takahashisensei arc? By the end of this sequel arc there no longer was any competition for best girl as she sweeps. Clannad After Story spoilers: 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1090585929594441728/image.png The next arc was Kaorus which similarly to Ai took what was a fantastic arc in the prequel and made it grander in the sequel. Kaoru is that friend who you can do anything and everything with regardless how dumb it may be and the fact shes the opposite gender is a bonus shes just a breath of fresh air to have around. Their relationship feels so genuine and natural as she is a fantastic friend and partner. The introduction of this episode with Kaoru drawing art was spectacular and surprised me since I literally forgot this was a sequel and that they were dating which makes this scene more understandable... Kaoru and Junichis relationship is the kind I wish I had with my partner as it doesnt feel forced and there will be times of bickering but theres a reason its referred to as a lovers quarrel after all. Kaoru is genuinely so much fun to have around as its never boring and shes so chill and easy to get along with as well due to her explosive personality. Lastly seeing a scared adorable sight of Kaoru was novelty and a sight for sore eyes as its pure gold. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1089211164120068319/image.png The next arc is Saes which in my personal opinion was the least romantic of the sequels but that doesnt necessarily mean it wasnt great. Saes arc was fine in the sequel as I preferred the arc from the prequel which offered more screen time. I was very quickly reminded that although Sae doesnt say much what she does say is always pure and genuine right from her heart. I still enjoy Saes character for how innocent and precious she is she may not have a chaotic personality like Tsukasa or Haruka but a calm timid and composed nature with very redeemable qualities for a partner. Lastly I was not ready to see that kind of eight year time leap at the end... They had a child who looked exactly like a baby Sae and even a second on the way. As stated before this arc was probably the least romantic of the season but it doesnt fall short in being pure and genuine in every sense of those words. 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1090605153322811472/image.png Last but what I can now say certainly not least is Haruka. This sequel arc was so important for my opinion on Haruka to change. I very much disliked her arc in the prequel and it was the only arc that I would have considered to be bad. Harukas redemption arc is here and it shines brightly Dare I say Harukas arc was not only good but fantastic...? Shes the one getting teased about her dream of getting married when she graduates? The Haruka Morishima is getting teased in this arc...??? Furthermore shes actually adorable when shes flustered and likeable in this arc I did mention earlier that Rihoko was the girl that needed a sequel arc the most but its Haruka whos benefited from it the most in my case since my opinion of her has completely changed. The roleplay between Junichi and Haruka is far more entertaining here than in the prequel and it isnt cringey since he actually has a character of his own rather than being demoted to being a puppy. Lastly his graduation speech albeit short was pretty good ending the episode on a high. No seriously Junichi has developed by about 500 in the sequel compared to the prequel arc 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1090002619495370872/image.png 800https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635602177833959439/1090004352653066291/image.png Lastly the final episode of the anime is a bonus full on fanservice episode which consists of showing the entirety of the female cast at a hot springs venue talking about boobs boobs and more boobs. This is meant to be Miyas arc but I cant really see it as anything other than pure fanservice. When I say the entirety of the female cast I literally mean every female that had some sort of part to play in the anime including the likes of Risa Hibiki and even Takahashisensei. This is a whatever episode and not related to the main story and its probably an anime only too. By the end of this episode Miya brings back some bath salts to cleanse Junichis soul and boy does it do just that... My final rating for the girls has slightly altered and is as follows: 1 Ai Still best girl by a landslide. 2 Kaoru Her sequel arc actually boosted her rating since she certainly seems like the kind of partner I would like to spend the rest of my days with. 3 Tsukasa Her chaotic nature is still entertaining but her sequel arc wasnt anything grand. 4 Sae Sequel arc was fine but her character personality still shines brightly. 5 Haruka The most beneficial arc of the entire anime completely making me change my view of her. I can now safely say there is no longer a worst girl. 6 Rihoko Received the most important sequel to finally give her love closure but its a very slow yet pure romance. I would honestly put her tied last. S1 Reviewhttps://anilist.co/review/20233
