A Look Into the Anime The show is about Souta Tawara returning home and meeting a mystical shapeshifting Tanuki. The anime explores family bonds and the dilemmas of each character. The show much like most slice of life takes its sweet time setting up the characters and has an overarching story. Udon doesnt play much of a part in the anime despite it being the shows name. It is only a small theme throughout the show. Poco is the typical cute little innocent kid that Souta took under his wing to become Pocos motherly figure. To sum the show up its about Soutas selfdiscovery journey mixed in with a cute kid and a fantastic supporting cast. Reasons to Watch Strong strong character development. Despite having a supernatural Tanuki child the show has some very realistic issues the characters faced. Soutas bond with Poco grew over the course of the show which helped develop them into more likeable characters. Poco is much like a memory machine where all characters seem to reminiscence their past. This hit me hard because I find myself regretting my past and this show made me feel like its not over I can still change my future into a brighter one. Souta has amazing development over the show he shunned his father and his family to choose his own path over them. He never realized how much it hurt his father until he met Poco. Slowly he started realizing what his father felt and regretted never talking it out with him. One thing I enjoyed is the fact that Souta stuck to his own path throughout the journey and didnt back down from his choice. Whereas Poco shed away his Tanuki personality to become more human Supporting Cast Nakajima and Rinko are strong supporting characters that seem to be side characters at first but have their own character growth as they overcome their past. There are many enjoyable side characters in the show although only a few of them get proper development due to the short amount of episodes. Artwork The visual imagery of the show did a great job depicting japan and the colors. The emotions were on key and I could feel each characters expressions met the tone of the discussion or what they were really feeling. 220https://i.yt.com/vi/ZJRhfok9Dw/maxresdefault.jpg Some Flaws The way Souta took care of Poco without the others questioning it that much that bothered me. It doesnt seem to go much into giving Souta actual difficulty in taking care of Poco. There is no actual conflict between their familial bond. The shows slow start and it suffers from not having enough time. This anime would have been better as a 24 episode series to flesh out the story due to the unique elements not given enough screen time. Some people may not enjoy the anime original ending but for a slice of life show I personally thought it ended on a good note for the length. 220https://funnyanimepics.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/udonep2cute1.jpg?w=599h=651
