She is a Japanese manga artist most known for her manga Chihayafuru published by Kodansha. She debuted in 1992 in Kodanshas Nakayoshi magazine with Taiyou no Romance. Her works later moved to Bessatsu Friend magazine also published by Kodansha.
In October 2005 Suetsugu was accused of plagiarising Takehiko Inoues Slam Dunk and Real. Kodansha confirmed many of the allegations and the author herself admitted to some. Due to this Kodansha ceased publications of all of Suetsugus work. She later resumed her work on March 2007.
